All Google Adwords advertisers are equal, but some Google Adwords Advertisers are more equal than others.

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Yesterday I called Google Adwords Phone support. (In case you need the numbers: UK: +44-845-3580038  USA: 1-866-2-466453 )

When their (new) IVR asked me you my client ID, I gave them my customer’s client ID. It took them 5 seconds to let me know that I can not get phone support and they recommend the Google Adwords online help center.

That was surprising. I called Google Adwords many times, both to the US and UK office and they always answered the phone. What happened?

I tried to call again and it didn’t help, tried the US office and got the same result.

Few hours later I called again, this time they answered the phone. After they solved my problem I noticed that I gave them a different Client ID than the one I gave on the first call. I tried again the first ID, and it didn’t work. I tried the second one and it worked! I tried my MCC account and it worked. I tried another MCC account that I don’t use any more, and it didn’t work.

After checking a few IDs I can safely say that it is all about the money. Google likes advertisers that spend a lot of money and will also prioritize them when they call Tech Support. The poor advertisers will have to solve their problems online.

So if you need tech support and can’t solve your problems online, spend more money until they pink up the phone!

How to create a Google Adwords MCC Acount

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Google Adwords MCC account is a very useful tool that allows you to manage all your Adwords accounts from a single Google Account.

In order to open your account just go to the  My Client Center homepage and sign up.When I tried to do it, I had a problem. I wanted to use my current Google Adwords account for MCC and for some reason this is impossible.

I read in some forum that I can open MCC account only with a Google account that has no Adwords account and that made it even more interesting.

So if you have the same problem this is what you should do:

1. Open a new gmail account.

2. Login to your current Adwords  account and invite the new gmail user to be an administrator in your Adwords account (My account -> Account Access ) . Once all confirmation links that were sent to all parties are clicked, the new gmail user is an administrator in your Adwords account.

3. Login to adwords with the new Google account.

4. Go to My account -> Account Access and remove your original adwords login email from this adwords account. After these steps you are ready.

Go to the the MCC signup page and  create an MCC account on with your favorite Google account.Isn’t that simple!

Is Google Adwords really working?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

(The answer is Yes.)

I have just looked at the Google Q2 2009 Results and thought about some questions people been asked me like ” Is Adwords really worth it?” “Isn’t that a waste of money?” “Isn’t that full of fraud?”

The answer is this: During Q2 2009 Google-owned sites (Google.com, Gmail, Youtube etc.) generated revenues of $3.65 billion. Does that answer the question? Three and a half billion dollars think that it is worth it. If it wouldn’t be worth it, do you think that Google would have made so much money?

I will write another post soon about why I think Adwords is a must tool for every business.  Can’t do it today. Got to run. Lot’s of work!

Google Adwords new interface sucks!

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Google Adwords has a new interface. It has some new features and it looks pretty good. The problem is it is sooooooooooooo slowwwwww. It is full of Flash objects that make the page load forever and working with the web interface (as opposed to the Google Adwords Editor) turned into an impossible thing to do.

There are quite a lot of people complaining about it, asking Google to the leave the old interface as an optional feature, but I doubt it if Google will do it.

In any case, my recommendation is to work with the Adwords editor in any case where you need to actually work on the account, rather than just a take a quick look on statistics.

One more thing: I was looking hard for the Israeli phone number of Google Adwords. I spoke to some friends that have friends, and this number seems to be Top Secret. I can’t understand why but in any case, if you are looking for Google Adwrods Tech Support Phone number here are some numbers that can help:

UK: +44-845-3580038

USA: 1-866-2-466453 (1-866-2-Google)

Google search r0x! (Hitwise says)

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Hitwise Reports that Google has 67% of All US Searches. They also say that Yahoo! has 20% and MSN has 7%.

Is it a surprise? not to most of the people I know.

It may be interesting to see where exactly they collected their info. There is no question that information collected from Nebraska will be significantly different that the information collected from California. There are so many tech-oriented users in the Silicon Valley area, and these guys would never use Yahoo! or MSN as their search engine for technical purposes. (Of course, this does not include the employees of Yahoo! and MSN…)

So who are those people that use MSN and Yahoo!?

Most of the users that use MSN are the ones that got their computer with Windows and Internet Explorer and have no idea how to change the default search engine and their browser. In fact, they don’t even know that it is possible. They search, it works, and they are happy. I call this audience ‘the houswifes’.

Yahoo! is a different story. Yahoo! was there first, and there are still people out there that think that Yahoo is the Internet. They open their browser, go to Yahoo.com and then, they type the url they want to browse to, sometimes IN THE SEARCH BOX. Don’t get me wrong, not all Yahoo users are “computerly challenged”, the thing is that Yahoo was there first (almost), and quite a lot of people know how to use it, like the way it works, they like the content, the channels, the email, the news and see no reason to go anywhere else.

What can you learn from it? If you’re running a Pay Per Click campaign or thinking about SEO for a company that sells a Firewall Analyzer, Google is your place and all the rest is a waste of money. IT Managers, Software Engineers, Security Experts are not looking for you in Yahoo!. On the other hand, if your web page is about the Acropolis Audio Tour, You should definitely pay attention to MSN and Yahoo!. Your customers might be there as well.

dirty tricks

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

How cool is that! I think it is brilliant.

You have to admit that this is very creative, Very!

Will Google block it?
Do they care more about their gmail user experience or the income from this ad?

I’m not sure…
